Company History

In 1919, Mr. Josef Sousedík founded the Elektrotechnická továrna (Electrical Plant), which was to be the predecessor of today’s TES VSETÍN a.s. In those days, the line was dedicated to the production of asynchronous motors. The company founder filed 54 patents for his electric devices, drives, and electric traction and automatic control systems. After 1945, the company experience rapid growth under a new name, MEZ Vsetín. The production range was extended with the introduction of slip-ring induction motors and test stands for the measurement of output and speed; and later on with complete drives with DC motors. At that time, the company was focussed on the CMEA markets and ranked among the leading Czech exporters.

After 1989, the traditional line of DC motors was enhanced with the addition of synchronous and asynchronous generators, asynchronous motors for heavy industry, and with machines with permanent magnets.

In 1995, MEZ Vsetín was privatised and took on a new name, TES VSETÍN. The majority owner became the Czech-Slovak investment company PENTA INVESTMENTS LIMITED in 2008. On 1 August 2009 the corporate legal name was changed to TES VSETÍN, a.s. (a.s. – a publically traded company).

Thanks to technical development and production potential well-steeped in a long tradition, the company has fostered relationships with prime customers in Germany, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Poland, the USA, Russia and in Thailand, to which 70 % of annual revenues can be attributed.
